Our History
Byron got hooked on kites when he and Noble used to spend
hours fashioning large box kites out of silkspun and dowels while attending
college. They would hoist them to the top of the football stadium, usually
climbing up on the lights, and sit on the platform to fly their creations in
the excellent breezes. Most went out of sight across I-75 among the tall
buildings in Atlanta and were sacrificed to the skyscrapers. It was easier
to just go make another one than to reel in 1000 feet of line.
Many box kites and years later Jessica bought her first Revolution
in 1999. However, Byron
never would let her fly because he always dominated the controls. He let
Keith try it once and he didn't have any problem crashing it. But that was
enough, and Keith bought his Fanatic in the spring of 2000. Now, wherever he
goes he is always looking up watching the wind.
Keith, Byron and Jessica
joined the AKA in the summer of 2001 and decided to form KICK. A loosely
organized club that just wants to fly.
